Okay, I’m not one of those people who makes this huge long list just of crap they want to do in the summer and then if they don’t accomplish it they feel like their summer sucked or they try and pull off one of those movie like moments where they try to accomplish everything on the list in like two weeks. No that’s not me. I really don’t have any thing I want to make sure I do even. This is just rough look at what I would like to have in my summer.
- Take photos.
Of course I’m still taking photos, but if you can’t already tell I haven’t been taking as many as I use to. I just haven’t really had the time or place to take any. Seeing as school’s out I’ll have more than enough time to just mess around with my camera, and even though I am not the biggest fan of summer weather (I am much more of a winter and autumn kind of person not a spring and summer girl) it can be nice for taking photos, and the sunsets here are amazing.
- Go to several concerts.
No I don’t mean going to Warped Tour and tons of concerts like that (even though that’d be fun and I’d love to, but most likely won’t be able to go) I’d love to just see some little local bands and support the music scene I have in my town (yeah it’s not much but I think it’s unique). I kind of think why should I have to go down to Seattle (it’s roughly 2 hours away) every time I want to see a concert when I could just walk downtown and go to Jinx (an art gallery that also does some live music in their basement. It’s a cool place.) or something.
- Go to Seattle.
It kind of gets annoying always going up to Seattle just to go and stand in line for an hour (or 7 depending on the show) at a venue and not really getting to see the city. I love Seattle. And even though I live so close a have barely seen it. I only know a small part of it. Geez my Dad even grew up in Seattle I’d think he’d love to take me up there and let me see the city some. All I want to do is spend a weekend up there (or longer. I would love to be in Seattle for much longer) and go around and see what it’s like. I love cities. When I’m older I would love to live in a metropolis.
- Learn something.
You’d think someone who has just got out of school would want to do anything in their power not to learn anything for the whole 2-3 months they have off school. Well not in my case. And no I’m not going to be taking advanced math and science classes so I can get ahead. That’s not the kind of learning I want to do either. What I really want to do is learn some new skills. I want to take some cooking classes (I’d love to be able to cook. Currently I am probably one of the worst cooks you could ever meet. But hey at least I’m trying), maybe guitar lessons (I’d love to learn how to play any form of music. I don’t necessarily want to be a rockstar or anything. I just want to play simple tunes and be happy knowing I am playing them and not just listening to someone else), I also want to take some more spanish classes so I can learn that language and just any language in general, because I think being bilingual is not only a good skill to have but a fun one as well.
- Have some alone time.
This year especially I’ve felt like I haven’t had enough time for myself, even though I’ve had more ‘alone time’ I’ve ever had in my life. But this summer I know I’ll have plenty of time just to walk around or do whatever I want. I don’t need to see anyone but my family for 2 months if I don’t want to. But knowing me I’ll be seeing people all the time because even though I want to be alone I get lonely too easily and I hate feeling alone.
- Go out and do something.
Clean my room, get a job, babysit, volunteer work, really just anything. I just want to do something this summer. I want to be somewhat productive this summer. I want to get something accomplished or work for a task and actually get it to a better place than it was before. I really don’t want my summer to go by and people to ask me what I did with my summer and tell them all I did was sit in my room. I would love to tell them I helped other people or made the community somewhat better, hell even just saying my room isn’t the disastrous hellhole it usually is would be a big enough accomplishment for me.
See there’s no ‘go the amusement park and ride all the rides until you puke’ or ‘I’m going to throw the party of the year!’. Just something I hope I make sure to do this summer. That’s all I really care about. Yeah of course I want to hang out with friends and stuff like that but these are the things I want to do for myself not with other people. Well the concert one I would love to have my friends with me on that, but I know there will be some that I’d just go to alone because I want to and not really caring if other people come or not, because they probably wouldn’t want to.
Well anyways this is just what I have been thinking about today seeing as it’s the first day of summer vacation. I’ll keep you posted as I start actually doing some of the things listed and not just sitting on my computer typing about them. Until then I hope you are having a great summer so far. :)
